Question Water Pump

My water pump decided to pack it up at the weekend. €595 for the new pump plus labour €125 makes for a costly job. It is known as a 'negative' flow pump or something like that which makes it more expensive.

Has anyone else replaced their pump cheaper? Would be good to know for future reference.

Hi Glenda,

You were lucky you were able to salvage the pump, hopefully you'll get many more years out of it too. Forking out several hundred euro for a water pump in the thick of a recession is definitely not a welcome expense!

Thanks

Yes, I can recommend Progressive Plumbing (their number is in the Golden Pages, but RF Property Management will also give you their number, because they use them for the Gasworks). We've had them out to replace our pump, and also to do other work: very friendly, very efficient, would highly recommend.

Just saw this now. My pump packed it in last year and I had the pump replaced and labour for a lot less than that. It was about 200 euro all in. I called the company who installed them - Modern Plant. The details are on a plate on the pump. The first few places I rang were quoting 500 euro up to 1k. So Modern Plant is the answer.
