That Cork City Council agree that the occupants of Hollyhill Heights, who entered into a TCL agreement with the Council, would have their rental liability to Cork City Council capped at €2,000, subject to the following criteria;

  • A deposit was paid by the current occupant to Cork City Council as the result of an offer to purchase the property under the Affordable Housing Scheme and that this deposit was paid before a Temporary Convenience Letting Agreement came into effect.
  • That mortgage payments are being made on the property to Cork City Council by the occupant or that the occupant is willing to complete transfer of ownership of the property and begin mortgage payments.

This motion will not now be debated and voted on at the Council meeting on Monday March 9th. Instead it has been been retained in the Housing Committee where it will be discussed again at a closed meeting on Monday March 9th.

Depending on the level support from Housing Committee Councillors it may then be allowed to proceed to a public vote on March 23rd.

The motion is up for consideration at the scheduled Council meeting on Monday April 27th. Before voting Councillors will be given an opportunity to speak.

Although the motion will be defeated this is as good an opportunity as we are likely to get to make our case.

The meeting will be held in the Council chambers after 7 pm. Public access is from the City Hall, Anglesea Street entrance.
